“Why are you so cheap?”

Have you been hit with that question? It often occurs when one chooses to be thrifty. Take heart, because frugal, thrifty, and economical are not dirty words. Quite frankly, they’re smart words, words that indicate that you are smart with your money.

Certainly there are “cheap,” miserly types, but for most of us living the frugal way is an effort to live comfortably yet live within our means. For some, it may be that they are saving money for the future or for a large purchase. However, for more and more people in today’s economy, it’s simply an attempt to maintain their lifestyles while salaries stay the same (or decrease) while prices of goods and services continue to increase.

No matter the reason, don’t ever let anyone make you feel bad for being careful with money. If “living well is the best revenge,” living well for less is even better.
