About those cheap Drinks for the Ride

Published by another_mother at 1:54 pm under Frugal Tips Edit This

Here’s another tip for spending less when it comes to having a cold drink for the ride. Whether you’re packing a cooler for a road trip or just to run a few errands, use ice from home instead of buying bags of ice. The price of bagged ice is just ridiculous in some places (and seems to continue rising most everywhere else).

Dump the tray from your ice-maker frequently so it makes plenty of ice on a regular basis. If your refrigerator doesn’t have an ice-maker (or your icemaker doesn’t perform very well), invest in some ice trays. You can find two and sometimes even three or four for a buck at many dollar stores. They’ll pay for themselves in one use.

Place a bowl or container in the freezer to hold loose ice and be sure to empty and refill ice trays regularly.
